Send your spirit, a hymn — Sam Goodman, UK

Mfanefile, South Africa – by Ana Gobledale

To be spoken or sung to the tune of either Stuttgart (Come thou long expected Jesus)
or Sussex.

Verses 1-4 might be used for the opening hymn in worship, while verse 5 might be used as a benediction or words of sending out.

Send your spirit as we gather
Breath your love into our hearts
Take whatever we can offer
Let your revelation start

Send to us your vibrant spirit
And as we become transformed
Guide our life and how we live it
Let your work in us be born

Send your visions and your spirit
Show me where I need to be
Take my doubting and my yearning
Let your spirit reign in me

Send us out as your disciples
To a world that needs to know
How your love is given freely
Let your spirit’s blessings flow
