We wait, litany – Simon Cross, UK

Lindisfarne sunrise – Ana Gobledale

Inspired by:

  • Psalm 130:5-6  (quoted in the first two lines from the New Living Translation)
  • Psalm 139: 1-16, 22-23

Silence:  a diamond symbol (♦) indicates a short pause.

One: I wait for God; my soul waits, and in God’s word I hope.
All: My soul waits for God more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for morning.

One: Holy God at the start of this new day some of us arrive tired and short of energy. In our weakness may we know the truth of your strength, in our frailty may we know the source of all vitality.

(Ps 139: 1-16; 22-23 )
One: Holy God you search us and know us, you lead us in your way, ♦ your forgiveness is already complete.

One: With people of all different languages and ways of living
All: We wait for your silent voice, God
One: With those who lament and those who rejoice
All: We wait for your silent voice, God
One: With the trees of the field, the animals and the birds
All: We wait for your silent voice, God
One: With the good soil and the lapping water
All: We wait for your silent voice, God
One: In love for one another and for all that is around us
All: We wait for your silent voice, God

One: Let there be peace in our world.
All: May the God of inside and out, of darkness and light, and of all things far and near, lead us this new day.
