Ephesians 5.8-14 (Lent 4, Year A)
Tune: Wild rover (popular Irish song) — can be heard on YouTube
The byways of darkness are many indeed,
and both low folk and high folk use them to succeed,
Succeed at their tricks, shady deals and dark schemes,
for our world is ensnared by its dark, dodgy memes.
Let us leave this darkness, (clap four times) leave this darkness behind,
let’s receive God’s brightness, God’s true light re-find.
God’s ways are as diff’rent, as diff’rent can be,
and God’s kindness and justice keep setting folk free,
the light of God’s goodness exposes the rot,
and confounds all the sin of the world we have got.
So let us cross over from darkness to light,
and let’s learn to live daily by doing what’s right,
whatever the pressures, let brightness shine thro’
full exposing the darkness by all that we do.
