Leader: Fathers come in many different forms, and today we celebrate them all!
All: Thank God for fathers!
Leader: Everyone here is either a son or a daughter.
All: Thank God for our fathers!
Leader: For those men who have died and whom we miss dearly here on earth.
All: Thank God for fathers who are no longer with us.
Leader: For every man who is working day and night to raise his children, right now.
All: Thank God for fathers of today.
Leader: For all the men who will soon be fathers, but aren’t quite fathers yet!
All: Thank God for soon-to-be-fathers.
Leader: For the men who took in others’ children through adoption and foster care.
All: Thank God for fathers with hearts so big.
Leader: For those men who have lost a child to death yet must carry on in their grief.
All: Thank God for fathers who are so strong. May they receive comfort from you.
Leader: For those who were not emotionally, mentally, physically ready to have children and supported heart wrenching decisions.
All: God bless these hurting men who were part of hard decisions.
Leader: For the men who choose not to have children, yet their influence is felt by many.
All: Thank God for the ability to make choices.
Leader: For all the men who have desperately wanted to have children of their own, but chose instead to father children of others.
All: Thank God for abounding love.
Leader: For the men who have ‘less than’ fathers and struggle with this day.
All: Thank God for the ability to heal.
Leader: For the men who were and maybe are ‘less than’ caregivers to their children.
All: Thank God for the forgiveness and hope offered to all.
All: Thank God for all the men who have influenced our lives in so many ways. May we honour them as God gives honour to all humankind.
Like many writers, Janice finds inspiration from a variety of sources. What is ‘original’ blends in word and image with material read and heard elsewhere. Thus, this litany weaves inspiration from a variety of un-remembered sources. If you are aware of any sources, other than Janice, to be acknowledged, please inform the Editor. We are sharing resources and in no way wishing to ‘steal’ them. Thank you.
