Opening prayers on the theme of creativity — Cara Heafey, UK

Artist of life, we praise you.
You are the painter of skies and the sculptor of mountains.
Composer of rain-rhythms, heartbeats, whale-song.
Choreographer of the swirling wind and spinning planets.
Open our eyes to the wonders around us.

Christ the carpenter, we praise you.
Your calloused hands that shaped and smoothed wood,
also broke and blessed bread, comforted and healed the sick,
touched the untouchable, bore the unbearable.
Open our hands to welcome and share.

Creative Spirit, we praise you.
In the beginning, when the world was created,
you danced in the darkness over the surface of the waters.
Be present here within and among us.
Open our minds to be inspired and surprised.
