Psalm 86 renewed — Duncan Wilson, UK

Teach me your way
and I will follow it faithfully.
Encourage me to serve you with all my heart.

With all that is within me, I will praise you
and everywhere I will speak of your goodness.

How can I measure your love?
You give me back my life, nothing less.
Still, there are those who seek only to make mischief
and have regard only for themselves.

But you are loving and merciful;
patient, gentle and loyal without fail.

So look upon me and be generous towards my faults;
lift me up and make me strong,
for I would serve you completely.

Make plain your goodness towards me,
for you have helped and comforted me.
