Table, communion hymn — Sam Goodman, UK

Tune: St Clement, ‘The day thou gavest’
Inspiration: a retreat in Thirsk

This table is set and the welcome is open
A simple offer of wine and bread
A healing has come from a body once broken
So come to the table, rest here and be fed

This table is set for the proud and the humble
What’s offered here is a chance for peace
This place is for you when your whole world has crumbled
Christ calls us together to share in this feast

This table is simply a way to recover
To heal in ways that we cannot know
Christ calls us to care and look after each other
So we as disciples can flourish and grow

So come to the table approach it with gladness
And be restored by a God who cares
Know pain can be healed and joy can follow sadness
Know God in this place and then take God’s love elsewhere
