Arising from John 9.1-41 (Lent 4, Year A)
tune: Morning Hymn
When we’re too certain how things are
our firm resistance may push far,
like Pharisees when Jesus healed,
we may deny what God’s revealed.
The evidence before our eyes
we may laugh off, ignore, despise,
and prejudice of divers kinds
may cloud the workings of our minds.
Our world today is changing fast,
and long-taught certainties don’t last,
we need to learn to duck and weave,
and fresh ideas, with joy, conceive.
Yet pray God’s Spirit makes us wise,
to see God’s good amidst the lies;
eyes open to what’s right and true,
resist the nonsense others do.
For, in the midst of this world’s change
our God’s at work to re-arrange,
unleash fresh help, let hope shine through.
Praise God for doing something new!
