People of reconciliation, prayer — Simon Cross, UK

A responsive prayer of intercession & confession

Silence:  a diamond symbol (♦) indicates a short pause.

One: God, we call to mind the fractured beauty of the world we live in.
All: May we be people of reconciliation. ♦
One: We call to mind broken relationships.
All: May we be people of reconciliation. ♦
One: We call to mind wars and rumours of wars.
All: May we be people of reconciliation.
One: We call to mind those who feel driven to crime and violence, out of need or out of fear.
All: May we be people of reconciliation.
One: We acknowledge the need to engage our world with love and compassion and seek your guiding to do this.
All: May we be people of reconciliation. ♦
One: As we repent of our destructive ways, we align ourselves with all those working to restore balance and justice.
All: May we be people of reconciliation. ♦
One: Create in us clean hearts
All: And put a new and right spirit within us. (Psalm 51: 10)
