Peace dwellers, prayer — Simon Cross, UK

Peace sign at Salisbury United Reformed Church, Ana GobledaleA responsive prayer of intercession, confession and blessing

Silence:  a diamond symbol (♦) indicates a short pause.

One: God, we call to mind those that we love.
All: May your people dwell in peace. ♦
One: We call to mind those that would call us enemies.
All: May your people dwell in peace. ♦
One: We call to mind all those in government, of our country and abroad.
All: May your people dwell in peace.
One: We call to mind those places where wars, famines and droughts lead people to desperation.
All: May your people dwell in peace.
One: We acknowledge our responsibility – our part in the unjust systems of this world — and seek your leading away from these.
All: May your people live in peace.
One: As we repent of our part in harming the planet we live on, we align ourselves with all those working to restore balance and justice.
All: May your people live in peace.
One: Create in us clean hearts oh God
All: And put a new and right spirit within us. (Psalm 51.10)

Blessing

One: Let there be peace in our world.
All: May the love of God lead us,
may the hand of God hold us,
and may the compassion of God seep through us,
into the day ahead and all that it holds.
