Even in the face of wars, atrocities, even genocide, we continue to pray.
How good to give you thanks, dear God,
to sing your praises,
to proclaim your love every morning
and your faithfulness at nightfall,
with the strains of stringed instruments
and melodies on the harp.
Your great deeds are a source of joy,
what you have done gladdens the heart.
Faithful souls will flourish like palm trees,
reaching as high as the cedars of Lebanon.
Like trees planted in God’s own house,
they will blossom
and bear fruit a plenty even in old age,
staying green and sturdy.
This is how we know how just is our God,
and how unfailing our protector.
